Nel 1975, Tim Leatherman stava cercando un prodotto che non esisteva ancora. Quindi decise di crearselo. Entrò in garage con qualche schizzo e l'idea di realizzare ciò che aveva in mente. 8 anni dopo nacque il Leatherman PST®. Durante questo tempo, Tim costruì, testò, ruppe e concepì tantissimi prototipi e componenti che non arrivarono mai alla fase di produzione. Anche il nome del suo progetto brevettato, Mr. Crunch, fu cambiato in favore dell'ora più celebre "Leatherman". Uno degli strumenti principali era la doppia pinza, troppo costosa e complessa da realizzare a quei tempi. Per questo lancio di Leatherman Garage abbiamo combinato l'iconica e dimenticata funzione con il nostro multiuso più avanzato di sempre, FREE® P4. P4 dispone della tecnologia magnetica della linea FREE che consente un rapido e semplice accesso ai 21 attrezzi interni. La doppia pinza si blocca in posizione all'utilizzo e si richiude semplicemente a fine lavoro. Speriamo che questo prodotto ispiri nuovi modi di riparare, aggiustare e risolvere ogni tuo problema, come successe a Tim nel suo garage, oltre 40 anni fa.

"Dint get to buy one but, did a clean out a few years ago and found two or three Leatherman tools. One was a original crunch and I gave it to my then 16 year old son. He is in the army now and has carried this everywhere he goes. I swear he fixes track vehicles with it. I wish I kept it for myself but I'm happy he uses it every day and probably will have it forever"
"Die Mr. Crunch Zange packt noch viel besser, als alles, was es auf dem Markt gibt. Aber es gibt noch eine Sache, die es doppelt wo wertvoll machen würde: So wie man die einzelnen Tools verriegeln kann, sollte man sie ebenso schnell auch entnehmbar machen. So kann man sich sein Leatherman so konfigurieren, wie man es dringend braucht. Und ganz wichtig für Flugreisende: Man kann die Messerklingen einfach herausnehmen und im Koffer verstauen, während man das Tool in der Kabine mitnehmen darf. Und wenn man mal versehentlich das Taschenmesser erst im Flughafen bemerkt, verliert man, beim Einchecken, nur die Klinge und nicht das ganze Tool. Ich musste mal beim Einchecken die Klinge abbrechen. Das war ein schreckliches Erlebnis!!! Aber nur so konnte ich mein Leatherman retten.
